These pictures were taken with my new Brownie Hawkeye camera that I got that year for Christmas.
The first picture shows Mom and Dad sitting on the couch by the tree. This is one of the few shots that we have of them from that era and I wish that it was focused better. Note the painting above their heads. I remember that we used to tape a Christmas scene on the glass as you can see. Also the wallpaper is kind of wild by today’s standards but I guess it was in line with the mid fifties taste.
Next we have a picture of Dad with Kathy peeking around the left side; the woman is Elsie King, Dorthy King’s mother who was a frequent visitor to our house. The third picture shows Dad enjoying a toy gun and a cigarette) with Hugo, Elsie’s boarder/ boyfriend.
The fourth picture shows some of the family posing on Christmas Eve — I love the looks on Marge and Kathy’s faces.
The picture of Mom sitting on the couch with three of our aunts enjoying their beers. It is one of my favorites — what a group of women. How many times have you seen Mom with her own can of Falstaff?
Then we have a picture of Aunt Ag with a clown doll (no idea what is going on) and two of Grandma Pimmel. You can see our record player on the table next to Grandma. This was a Christmas gift to Marge and me and we also got a couple of 45 records — Mr Sandman and Muskrat Ramble.
The picture of Uncle Leo with Grandpa Dunsworth was taken in the kitchen on Christmas Day. They frequently dropped in for a drink to celebrate the holiday, a custom of the day.
Next we have Mike and Kathy playing with their Christmas toys. The houses in the background were across the street from ours.
Finally we have the Ron gallery. The pictures speak for themselves
