These were taken at a Christmas gathering at the house on Gilmore Ave.
The first shows the tree and the presents in front of the mantle (no fireplace). The tree, typical of all our trees back then, is a fir (I think) with short needles and widely spaced branches. Dad used to buy less expensive trees that were a little sparse and then he would get some extra branches,, drill holes in the trunk and insert the extra branches to make the tree look fuller. The presents are in large boxes that are wrapped in chimney or brick patterned paper; as I recall, this was a common practice in the family back then.
The rest of the pictures show some of the people at the celebration. I don’t recall the story of Uncle Donald and the fish, but it is an interesting picture. Apparently the twins got watches for Christmas and seem very happy with them. The last shot, although not well framed, shows me with my stylish black framed glasses and skinny tie.
