This is our “early Christmas” in Columbia before we drove into St Louis. First we have two pictures of the four boys looking cheerful and well behaved on the couch and then we have one shot where Keith becomes a footstool.
There are some shots of the boys enjoying their presents. The background in the one with David holding a thingamabob in the classic “big blue chair” is particularly interesting. First of all, Louise and I have always joked about having a “big blue chair”. They have not always been blue (the current one is tan), but they almost always have been recliners and frequently rockers.
Also, the shelving unit in the background holds some classic items. The Christmas whatnots appeared at many Christmases and many are still around, although most have lived in a box without seeing the light of day for several years. The old radio and the brass plate were part of our decoration for several decades but both are now gone, in fact, I think that one of the boys moved the brass plate to his house within the last year or so. The lamp on the table and its twin still serve as bedside lamps in our bedroom.
There are a couple of pictures of us playing with a remote controlled racing car track. This was my toy phase when I bought myself a toy for Christmas each year. This practice started one year when I decided to spend the money my parents gave me on a toy.
