Russ and Louise's Photos

Navigating the Website

The website is organized as a tree-based four-level file system. The first three levels contain lists of descriptive links to the next level down and clicking on a link will take you to that level. The photos appear at the fourth level with each fourth-level page presenting a gallery of photos from a particular event. Clicking on one of the photos will enlarge the image, and clicking the "X" at the top right of the enlarged image will take you back to the gallery. To move backup the tree, use the browser's back button or the navigation buttons at the bottom of each page.

While I had COVID a few months back, I isolated myself in our back room with all my books, painting supplies and, more importantly in this context, our photo albums. I started looking at a few of them and found them interesting. I realized that we had a huge number of photos and thought that we should do something with them. Coincidentally, I read an article in an ARRP magazine about someone in a similar situation that decided to start periodically sending a few pictures with comments to his extended family on a regular basis. After trying to share photos through several texts, I decided to use a website because managing a text thread with the number of addressees and photos became cumbersome. Also, and perhaps the real reason, I thought that it would be fun to build a website using one of the new website design apps.

Rationale Behind the Website

Date

The date asigned to each photo set represents our best guess. These dates are based on notes, tickets, etc. in the album with the photos, or on photos from other events in the album, or on our recall; however, it is important to remember that they are guesses. If anyone believes they have more accurate information and feels strongly about it, let me know and I will try to revise the webpage.
